Item Description

Some of the best contemporary "cogwheel"-shaped Bournonites on the market, are those from the famous Machacamarca Mine in Bolivia. This particular specimen is one of the few "cogwheel" examples of Bournonite that we have offered for a while in the auctions. It features a predominant, attractive, sharp, metallic, lustrous, silvery-grey color, "cogwheel"-shaped twinned crystal groups measuring 2.5 cm across aesthetically sitting on black Sphalerite matrix. The main "cogwheel" is in excellent shape overall, but there is a broken crystal on the front/display side of the piece, so the entire specimen is not without damage. This specimen is from a fairly recent find in 2019 in Bolivia, and stands out as one of the better discoveries of this material in recent years. If you're a fan of sulfosalts, metallic minerals or simply Bolivian material, don't miss out on this attractive display specimen of these beloved "cogwheel" Bournonites.
