Item Description
One of the few single "cogwheel" specimens of Bournonite that I have offered from Bolivia in the auctions for a while. This piece is an attractive, sharp, fairly thick, prismatic, lustrous, metallic, silvery-grey color, "cogwheel"-shaped crystal group. The largest of the crystals measures 1.6 cm across. This specimen is from a find in 2005 in Bolivia, with the exception of a few rough spots, is in great shape overall from the standpoint of damage. Comparatively, the Bolivian Bournonite "cogwheels" are priced significantly lower than their contemporary Chinese counterparts, and a piece like this from Machacamarca is very difficult to find.
