Item Description

The Yaogangxian Mine in China is one of the greatest mineral producing localities in the world over the last couple decades. This mine has unquestionably been one of the foremost localities for fine quality crystallized Bournonite specimens. Bournonite isn't necessarily a rare sulfosalt, but honestly, there are only a few operating localities in the world that produce superb Bournonites. This piece is a fairly sharp, well-formed, silvery-grey color, metallic, prismatic "cogwheel"-shaped crystal of Bournonite free of matrix. There are some rough spots on the piece, so it's not 100% perfect, but it's still a very good sized "cogwheel" on a worldwide scale. In my experience Bournonite crystals of this size are not common from any locality, and this is still a pretty good example of the Yaogangxian specimens.
