Bournonite (''cogwheel'')

Item Description

This mine has become one of the foremost producers of fine quality Bournonite specimens in the world. Superb Bournonites are only found in a handful of worldwide localities, and the specimens from the Yaogangxian mine are among the best extant. This piece features a fairly sharp, well-formed, silvery-grey color, metallic, prismatic "cogwheel"-shaped crystal of Bournonite free of matrix. There are some rough spots on the piece, so it's not 100% perfect, but it's still a very good sized "cogwheel" on a worldwide scale. In my experience Bournonite crystals of this size are not common from any locality, and this is still a decent example of the Yaogangxian specimens.
