Item Description
Boulder Opal is one of the most distinct and popular Opal varieties in the world. Australia is obviously the most prolific producer of Opals in the world, especially since such a wide array of Opals are found there. This piece is not a specimen per se, but a carved / art piece of Boulder Opal that features beautiful patches of electric purple, blue, green, gold, orange, pink and red Opal which can be seen when the piece is rotated in the light. Technically, there are two pieces of Opal on this piece, which were cut, sawed and glued together against a wood backing, but if you look at the lower right and left hand corners, you'll see a couple of mountainscapes with a few trees carved directly into the piece. It's a beautiful blending of the mineral world and the art world, and you really don't see much of this kind of work today. The back of the piece also has a small loop so, the piece could be hung on a wall for easy display. Don't miss out on this beautiful example of a species that most collectors don't often think about for their collections as it is rarely found in display pieces, and it's also complete one-of-a-kind.
