Item Description
Classic material, for both the collector and for decorative use! A rich and colorful vein of glassy and gemmy opal is exposed on the front of the banded ironstone in this classic matrix example of a natural opal deposit. The colors are intense and vary from a blue-white, to dayglow green, neon blue, rich purple and light caramel-brown. The mass is 232 grams. Ex Trimingham Collection and came from the Hoppner Collection in Germany or Austria, according to his label. The lower front edge, base and one side have been sawed. The piece displays well without aid.
