Classic, very showy large material, for both the collector and for decorative use! Layers and veins of glassy and gemmy opal course through an indurated sandstone in this classic matrix example of a natural opal deposit. The colors are intense and vary from a rich powder-blue to blue-white, with hints of neon blue, green and orange. The striking sandstone matrix, with variable iron oxide tinting, looks like native art work! This sculptural and very artistic piece weighs 620 grams and was priced at the Denver show in a trade to us at $930.
