Item Description
Boulder Opal is one of the most distinct and popular Opal varieties in the world. Australia is obviously the prolific producer of Opals in the world, especially since such a wide array of Opals are found there. This piece features beautiful patches of electric blue, green and yellow Opal with some small pink, and gold flashes which are sitting within dark brown iron-rich Sandstone host rock. The vibrant color of the Opal against the dark background makes for a lovely specimen, which would make a great addition to your collection. We showed the piece to a friend who knows a bit more about this material than I do, and they said that good Boulder Opals are valued at over $500 per carat in some cases. This particular piece (which is polished with a piece of felt attached to the back) could be valued at up to $1500 or more retail based on the color and appearance. Don't miss out on this beautiful specimen of a species that most collectors don't often think about for their collections as it is rarely found in display pieces. For reference, the piece weighs 1,530 carats (306 grams).
