Item Description
Very large, outstanding, lustrous, and thick smithsonite botryoids on matrix from the famous Berg Aukas Mine of Namibia. These were mined in the 1960s-1970s and are VERY rare on the market today. In fact, these fat balls of smithsonite are gemmy enough, some are cut into collector gemstones. The amber color is very rich, and the luster and translucency are excellent. But in person, it is even better than shown. The subtle, crenellated growth patterns on the botryoids are facinating. These are extra large smithsonites for the habit, and quite attractive for Berg Aukas. Valued at $1500 and frankly one of the best pieces at auction here
