Item Description
Moving light back and forth across the sculptural, 360-degree small cabinet cluster of shimmering velvet malachite botryoids look like eyeballs or circles, especially on the impressive large botryoid, tracking your motion. A mesmerizing effect. This very showy specimen is from the well-known, extinct Shilu Mine, a skarn-type copper-molybdenum deposit. Artisanal mining by locals has recovered more fine specimens. Attachments on the base and one side reveal the striking, chatoyant, dense, radial growth and multi-hued green hues of the acicular primary malachite crystals, adding character. A few spots of scuffing are a modest detraction to this strikingly sculptural and highly representative example from the noted locale.
