Item Description
Dramatic bright bubbly botryoids of jet-black and rust-red hematite cover this very sculptural and rare specimen from an obscure District near Las Cruces. They look like clusters of multiple insect eyes. The matrix is hematite on this hefty ore specimen. Rare and exceptional hematite from the Chris Cowan Collection. This outstanding piece compares with the best from the famous 1800s to 1900s iron ore deposits of Cumbria, England or the recent finds from Morocco.
