Botryoidal Hematite (2017 find - RARE)

Surreal globular forms on this striking large hematite plate from a recent 2017 find at this obscure iron and manganese mine in Hunan Province. Botyroidal hematite is RARE from any Chinese locale and mineral specimens of any type are uncommon from here. Striking and beautifully luminous low-relief bubbly gray hematite botryoids cover the sculptural, hefty and rich curved, banded rust-brown iron ore matrix on this fine, rare and rich example. It reminds me of classic botryoidal hematite from England, the USA or Morocco, but it's from China!
