Item Description

Botryoidal fluorites are rare from anywhere, so these translucent purple botrydoidal specimens have been a big hit since they first came out a few years ago. This large, striking, sculptural two-sided rib is a pretty lilac in color and it glows, when backlit. The backside has a frosting. The surface is typically purple, but in this case, the fluorite turned back to white in the last stages of growth, as the pocket solution changed and the ions responsible for the purple color were no longer present. So, it is white in some areas and purple in others. This particular piece has some periphery wear and one botryoid on the front is contacted. This remains a showy and highly representative large example from this new find.
