Item Description
A rarely seen combo piece from the Alfredo Pit (part of the Rio Tinto Mines) in Huelva, Andalusia, Spain featuring attractive rich reddish-orange colored crystals of Botryogen assocaited with "silky" white acicular crystals of Halotrichite plus some pale yellow Copiapite. Although the Alfred Pit was a Pyrite mine (it's now closed), it produced a fair number of colorful secondary sulfate species. The crystals are best viewed under magnification. A hard to find specimen for any fan of rarities or sulfate minerals. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased. This piece is pictured on mindat.org at https://www.mindat.org/photo-200347.html
