Item Description

A beautiful old specimen from the famous Levant Mine in Cornwall, which dates back to 1793! The locality is well-known for its beautiful copper minerals, including sulfides and secondary minerals. This piece is a classic example of the famed Botallackites featuring a rich coverage of sparkling, rich bluish-green colored bladed crystals on oxidized matrix. The Botallackites are best seen under magnification, and we've photographed this piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. This mine closed in 1930, so it's most likely that this specimen is well over 100 years old, and they are cherished by collectors as some of the best examples of the species ever found.
