Item Description

A lovely old classic Butte association specimen featuring Bornite on Pyrite matrix. The metallic iridescent blue Bornite makes a lovely contrast with the bright, golden octahedral Pyrite crystals, and some of the Pyrites are actually coated by Bornite but clearly show their octahedral habit underneath. The close up photos show a few thin prism of silvery-grey Enargite as well. Despite a bit of roughness to the exterior crystals, it's still a good representative specimen of this now hard to find material. It should be noted that this piece was labeled as coming from the Leonard Mine, but a lot of minerals from Butte were labeled as coming from the Leonard when in fact they were found in other mines around town. The piece comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value in my mind.
