Item Description
A 3.0 cm cluster of moderately sharp, melted-look bornite crystals is jauntily perched atop the mounded matrix of bornite, brassy pyrite and quartz on this fine combination miniature from the famous Steward Mine at Butte. The crystals are matte charcoal-gray color with some purple iridescence. Sharp bornite crystals are rare worldwide and this melted-look is typical for Butte bornite specimens. The bit of bruising to the bornites is noted, but has minimal impact to the quality of this classic combination from the Josef Vajdak and George Feist Collection. Older material from this 1950s.
