Item Description

Bornite specimens are RARE from the Varncice area of the historic Pribram District. Not pretty to look at, but this is an impressive hefty two-sided vein ore section of massive to granular bornite with embedded matrix. Mining stopped in 1990 in the area (mindat). Probably an old-time specimen, but no proof. The piece has a fine provenance, having formerly been in the Narodni Czech National Museum Collection. Ex Josef Vajdak Collection, a noted Czech specialist. Hefty ore at 474 grams or just over a pound.
