Item Description
Bornite was an important ore mineral from the famous mines at Bisbee. It generally occurred as massive material, with crystallized examples being very rare. This is a hefty mass of essentially solid bornite with classic moderate peacock iridescence. Not pretty to look at, but is still a highly representative and rich ore example of the speices and renowned locale. From an East Coast collection and comes with a Hugh Ford label that dates from 1946-57. Obviously most of this material was simply smelted, and few were saved as specimens.
