Item Description

This well-known mine produced some of the worlds finest and sharpest bornite crystals in the 1990s to early 2000s and this is an outstanding combination example. Bornite crystals are quite rare, worldwide. Exceptionally sharp, pseudo-octahedral crystals to 1.0 cm (some penetration twins) are aesthetically sprinkled along both sides of the crest of a sculptural cluster of intergrown calcite crystals. The bornites have a mostly matte finish, but light iridescence is noted on every crystal in bright light. The impressive large calcite scalenohedron is 4.5 cm and is doubly terminated. Material of this outstanding and very aesthetic combination quality is rare today. Try to find another. It displays fabulously from either side, as you can see. Valued at $750-950
