Item Description
This is honestly the first specimen of Bornite that we've seen from the Himmelreich Mine. This locality used to be labeled as Shaft 44, but now carries the designation of Shaft 238. A mass of partially iridescent (purple and blue) Bornite can be seen coating the underlying matrix. It's not crystallized per se, but if you collect minerals of Saxony of specifically pieces from the Himmelreich Mine, you can't afford to miss out on this one. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3560) with a label from the Mineralogisches Institut der Bergakademie in Freiberg. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
