Item Description

Bornite is a well-known copper sulfide species, but well-crystallized display specimens are not often seen from most localities. In the modern era of collecting, some of the finest examples of Bornite are those from the Dzhezkazgan Mining area in Kazakhstan. This piece is a good quality large miniature / small cabinet display specimen of this now hard to find material featuring fine, gentle steel-grey colored Bornite crystals which are attractively scattered on matrix. The biggest Bornite measures 1.0 cm across. A very attractive Bornite specimen by any standard. These specimens came out for a brief time in the early 1990s, and are now quite rare on the market. Valued $1,200.
From the collection of Colin Manlove.
