Item Description
Boracite is a rare borate found in evaporite deposits and this rare and excellent, old-time, 2-piece deal is from the Type Locality - the famous Kalkberg Hill of Lower Saxony, Germany. This locality is a saltdome caprock and the hill is now a nature conservation park, with collecting supposedly prohibited. Two, sharp, translucent, orthorhombic boracite crystals to 9 mm are enclosed in a 6.6 cm glass test tube with a cork stopper. Comes with an old, faded Ward's label. The collection this came out of was a museum stash dating to prior to World War I.
