Boracite (Old classic material circa 1800s)

This is a remarkable and equant dodecahedron of boracite, a textbook crystal that is complete-all-around, from the type locality. A 1 cm crystal is hard to get and at the upper end of the size for these, which makes this a competition level thumbnail specimen of one of the rarest of old European classics. They are not found with this quality, anywhere else, and these date from the 1800s (some have been cut into gems!). Good seafoam blue/green color, good luster, and fine form. These are quite old and turn up now only in old collections as you see from the over-100-year old label here. EX: Jingnan (Tom) Zhang collection. WHEN and IF these turn up, we have seen them for sale at the Munich show, sometimes, and had a few ourselves over the last several decades, and they are generally valued $1500-2000 for crystals of this quality.
