Item Description

This is a classic Boracite specimen from the famous Alto Chapare locality in Bolivia that was collected in the early 2000s. This locality is best known for its blue Danburite crystals (which are included with Magnesioriebeckite), but the other staple species found here is Boracite. This thumbnail sized piece features a well formed, sharp, translucent, beautiful soft blue color cube of this hard to find species on matrix. The cube measures 1.0 mm on edge. Most crystals from this find are NOT on matrix, so not only is this a big crystal for the locality, but to find it on matrix is significant. One does not often seen Boracite crystals like this on the market anymore, so do not miss out on this attractive display specimen of a species that is not often found in good display pieces like this. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
