Item Description

Fine example of the uncommon uranium mineral, Boltwoodite - but from California in the USA - that is a surprise! The yellow, acicular needles of Boltwoodite grow in very attractive sprays up to 2-3 mm, and the habit is reminiscent of Rutile sprays in color and form. Associated are deep purple cubes of Fluorite and water-clear Calcite crystals, all in the same approximate size range. These gemmy, prismatic Calcites also have a soft, peach-colored fluorescence. The Boltwoodite sprays are numerous within the open-faced vug, and this is an attractive and representative specimen for the species. From the New Method Mine in California.
