Item Description
Boltwoodite is a rare uranium silicate. Bright, yellow, radial clusters of boltwoodite needles richly fill a well-placed, 6.6 cm vug lined with brown, dogtooth, calcite crystals on this very showy and excellent specimen from Namibia. SELDOM have we offered boltwoodite at auction and in this size and quality it is actually a stunning and rare example of high quality, comparable to pieces we have paid $1000 or more for in the past. But it came to me cheaply in an old collection and so we let it go out here. It IS a rarified level for a display quality example of the species, though, and is worth $1000 or more in my opinion. such specimens as this are few and far between - smaller, or reference level pieces, are easy to come by however
