Boltwoodite on Calcite

Item Description

Boltwoodite is a rare potassium, sodium, uranium silicate, this is a hard to find CABINET sized piece from the Goanikontes Claim, near the Swakop River in Namibia. This piece features attractive radiating aggregates and layered prismatic crystals of rich golden colored Boltwoodite (the largest group measures about 7 mm across) sitting atop a layer of dark brown Calcite on host rock matrix. Without a doubt, a large number of the finest examples of Boltwoodite were found at this locality, and the fact that there are a good amount of eye-visible crystal groups on a cabinet sized specimen makes this an enticing and rare example of this now fairly hard to find material.
