Boleite (rare matrix specimen)

Here we have a small cabinet sized example one of the great old classics from Mexico. Boleite is a very rare potassium, lead, silver, copper halide, and by far the finest pieces are those from the namesake type locality, the Boleo District in Baja California Sur, Mexico. Without question, Boleite is one of the great beautiful rarities in the mineral world, and highly sought after by collectors. The species has been known since the late 1800s, but outside of Mexico, there really hasn't be any major discoveries of the species, at least in terms of fine quality display specimens. This is a rare MATRIX piece of Boleite featuring not one but SEVERAL fine, sharp, lustrous, translucent, rich blue color cubic crystals measuring up to 3 mm. Most of the crystals are in great shape, though there are some contacted crystals on the piece, so it's not 100% pristine. Fine pieces of Boleite are rather difficult to find in today's market, especially on matrix.
