Item Description
These sharp, seemingly un-natural cubes are actually a SILVER species, of all things. Boleite is one of the great classics from Mexico, phenomenally rare in good matrix pieces. This excellent and sculptural small cabinet hosts about 10, teal-blue to deep indigo-blue, boleite cubes with mirror luster faces jauntily set on stabilized clay matrix. It is from the famous 1970s finds by Ed Swoboda and Bill Larson at the historic Amelia Mine at Boleo, Mexico. The two, large cubes are 6 mm. This is a significant enough size to make the piece very fine, overall. The scattered radial clusters of green Atacamite are a fine compliment, and rare. A classic and choice matrix combination specimen from the Philadelphia Academy Collection. Valued at $1500 MINIMUM. interestingly, this was a donation gift from collector Bill Larson to the museum, in the 1970s. Note, due to the fragility of the matrix when collected, these were all soaked in a 5% glue dilution to stabilize the pieces. I would prefer not to ship the specimen because the crystals are heavy and the matrix fragile, unless I restabilize it (very lightly) today.
