Blue Opal (copper-bearing)

Item Description

Opal chemically is essentially Quartz with attached water molecules. The material is found in a wide range of colors, and ranges from completely opaque to 100% water clear. This gem is a fine example of the wonderful blue copper-bearing Opals from the Acari Mine in Peru. The stone was somewhat difficult to photograph, but it really is beautiful up close. It has a simple "Triangle" cut with good translucency, and is one of the better gems of this material that I have offered in the auction in a while.
