Blue Baryte

Item Description

Superb cluster of blue Barytes from the Sterling Mine in Stoneham, Colorado. This locality has produced some of the most classic and easily recognizable Baryte specimens from anywhere in the United States. The grey-blue color combined with the excellent quality of the crystals makes them a Colorado classic, for sure. Here the main crystals, which range up to about 4 cm, jauntily go in different directions. The Barytes are sharp, gemmy, and the silky luster gives them body. The beveled edges are very attractive, and the crystals are complete. Baryte has been known from this classic Colorado locale since the 1870s, and this specimen probably dates from the 1970s to mid-1980s collecting efforts. Super aesthetic, this is competition quality.
