Item Description

Blodite is a rare complex hydrated sulfate found in oceanic and lacustrine salt deposits and nitrate deposits in arid regions. Specimens are very rare from this old salt mine, near the Type Locality. Sharp, waxy, transparent, colorless crystals look brown from the underlying matrix. The prisms reach 1.5 cm on this old-time piece. VERY RARE in this quality from this ancient locale, worked in prehistoric times! The $2.00 price tag is still on the piece. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. The 1.4 cm label with 4 lines of superb printing is from a collection, that was auctioned in 1908! $2.00 was NOT cheap in 1908! Value??? A MUST for the species or locality collector!
