Item Description

An excellent and very showy, 2.5 cm wide, fan-like cluster of lustrous, neon-blue cavansite blades nicely set on basalt matrix covered with tiny, lustrous, stilbite blades from the famed Wagholi Quarry of India. Hard to see, there are also four tiny amber calcite rhombs on the stilbite, to 2 mm. This is a fine miniature for its own aesthetics and for the crystalography shown: Bladed cavansite of this variety is far less-common, than the cavansite balls. These are, also, fairly large blades. About 1 in 1000 cavansites might have this more rare form showing textbook crystallography, as opposed to the radial spherical clusters you normally see. This aesthetic piece does have some bruising across the top, but it is certainly only a modest detraction to this fine and rare example. Ex Wes Parker Collection.
