Here we have a wonderfully colorful Black Opal triplet from Australia. When the stone is viewed in a bright light, it shows a rich array of vivid colors, including red, orange, golden, yellow, green, aqua and blue. Opal is one of the most diverse gems in the world. They come in every color of the rainbow, and they're just as eye-catching when they're completely water clear as when they're opaque. The material has a simple chemistry, but you get a lot of diversity of Opal. This stone has a "Round Cabochon" cut gem, but please note that this stone is a triplet, and is set against a dark backing with a Quartz "cap" pasted on top to the help color show through.
