Black Opal is one of the most distinct, popular and frankly valuable Opal variations out there. Australia is obviously the world's most prolific producer of Opals particularly, the famous locality of Lightning Ridge, where some of the finest Black Opals are found. This "Oval Cabochon" cut stone features beautiful little patches of electric green, blue, purple, gold, red and orange Opal which are sitting against a dark background. The vibrant color of the Opal against the background makes for a lovely gem, which would do well in a pendant or loose as a great addition to your gem collection. This stone is a SOLID Opal, and not a doublet or a triplet, which makes it more valuable and worthwhile for a collector. There is color on BOTH sides of the stone.
