"Black Jack Zinc" (Sphalerite) - old Colorado

Black Jack Zinc is an old-time synonym for sphalerite. Old-time Creede specimens, such as this plate of solid crystallized sphalerite are not that common. Splendent, jet-black, twinned crystals have colorful patches of bright yellow to red translucency. There is one golden chalcopyrite crystal on the lower right. The contacted back reveals many small, gemmy olive-green crystals. Excellent and uncommon old-time sphalerite from this noted Colorado locale. A must for the species or locality collector.
