Item Description
A mirror-bright, jet-black, 9 mm, bixbyite crystal is aesthetically set in the blocky, contrasting miniature rhyolite matrix. The bit of noted contacting on the corners and edges is certainly only a modest detraction. Topaz Mountain is famous for fine topaz, bixbyite and pseudobrookite specimens. Ex Chris and Agatha Galas Collection.The Galas' were California mineral dealers and collectors who advertised in The Mineralogical Record in the 1970s. A showy, highly representative miniature example of the species and well-known locale.
