Item Description

A very hard to find specimen of Bismuth specifically from the Sorata are in the Larecaja Province of La Paz, Bolivia. This piece was personally acquired by Brian Kosnar on a trip to Bolivia in 1999, and he said it's the only one he's ever seen from Sorata. No specific mine was given when the piece was acquired, and it's quite difficult to know for certain where it was found, though Sorata alone is a rare enough locality for the material. The piece is essentially a "nodule" of native Bismuth which was cracked open to reveal the bright metallic beige-silvery internal hue, with a shiny luster that reflects off the cleavage faces. If you collect rarities or native elements, this is something that is virtually impossible to find from this specific locality. Specimen weight is 29.7 grams
