Item Description

A pair of beautiful bronze, textbook Biotite crystals grace this small cabinet piece from Canada. The big (pseudohexagonal) crystal on the right measures 5 cm across and the one on the left 3.2 cm and they sit right up off of the contrasting whitish, translucent Calcite. The Biotite pair displays sharp edges and and smooth faces. The matrix Calcite is medium to coarse granular and has 2 to 5 cm, subhedral Biotites disseminated within it. The piece sits well for display and is really a great visual specimen of this relatively common rock forming mineral because it has the contrast and balance of fancier species, that we all want. Mica is not often a display shelf mineral species, from here.
