Biotite (Eric Anderson Coll.)

Item Description

A fascinating large biotite specimen from an unknown Ontario locale and the Eric Anderson Collection. The sculptural piece is composed of two diametrically opposed crystals, one with a fantastic funnel shape. Both crystals are hexagonal, have an oxide coating on the prism faces and lustrous cleaved ends. The matrix on the back is granular quartz with nifty blue sodalite crystals. Certainly an unusual and uncommon form! Probably older material, but no proof.
