Item Description

Bindheimite is a relatively uncommon lead antimony oxide, typically forming as an oxidation after lead antimony sulfosalts. I don't know specifically where this piece is from (possibly the Ashby District or the Garfield District), as it was simply labeled as coming from the "Walker's Lake District" (Walker Lake) which is in Mineral County, Nevada. A good amount of yellow colored Bindheimite covers the underlying matrix. We found some interesting spots on the specimen which we photographed with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens, but were unable to identify them. A great opportunity for a rare mineral collector, a Nevada enthusiast or a collector of U.S. minerals to pick up a hard to find specimen for their collection.
