Item Description

Tourmalines from the remote Pamir Mountains of Tajikistan are rare and very seldom on the market. The stout crystal has a dramatic gemmy apple-green termination with striking yellow-green speckles. The rind on the lustrous, well-striated sides is gem, teal-blue and the interior is a rich rose-pink. Thus, this is a watermelon tourmaline. It GLOWS with beautiful color when backlit. A bit of cleavandite is a nice accent. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only one spot of out-of-sight basal periphery wear on the back. Rare and excellent tourmaline from an obscure locale. Hefty at 352 grams. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Valued at $2500, this is a major spiker for this auction.
