Item Description
Mineral specimens from this obscure pegmatite district, near Pech, are uncommon and are seldom on the market. This rare, remarkable, bi-colored tourmaline is beautifully accented with a water-clear smoky quartz crystal and a bit of albite. The lustrous, translucent, matte-finish, grape-purple termination lies above an irregular, gemmy, lavender zone. The striking transition to the gemmy, rich, mint-green zone is followed by the opaque schorl basal section, which sheathed in a thin green rind. The gemmy smoky has rich color (rare for locale) and a very interesting sharp termination. The smoky is essentially pristine, with only the most trivial, barely noticeable edge wear. The contact on the tourmaline next to the terminated albite cleavage has modest bruising and is out-of-sight in the preferred display views. Value?? We believe in the $1500-2000 range for locality rarity, quality of the indicolite-capped tourmaline and smoky quartz association. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock.
