Item Description
Bi-colored tourmaline with smoky quartz specimens of this dramatic and excellent quality are RARE from Minas Gerais. The very glassy, translucent to transparet tourmaline is highlighted by the beautiful, indicolite blue section by the termination. The mirror termination area is apple-green, underlain by a honey-brown zone. The body is mottled apple-green, shades of olive-green, and there are more indicolite areas inside the crystal. The impressive angled, water-clear smoky is well-terminated and is strikingly accented with a colorless, piggyback, quartz crystal. A bit of bruising is noted to the smoky termination, as is the broken base of the smoky with attendent tourmaline contacting. These are most certainly modest detractions to this most colorful, sculptural and rare combination tourmaline. Probably older material from the 70s or 80s. Value??
