Item Description
A gorgeous, 2.0 cm, pristine, bi-colored gemmy tourmaline is aesthetically set in the partially euhedral smoky quartz crystal from the famous Himalaya Mine. The adorable parallel-growth crystal has a stunning glassy, gem cranberry-red termination. The classic light "Himalaya pink" body and light green basal section are obscured by the moderately lustrous, frosted prism faces. Parts of the translucent smoky have very sharp faces, while other are contacted. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5273 and acquired from California dealer Sol Shale in the late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Classic and excellent old-time combination tourmaline from the Himalaya. Rubellite with this rich red color is uncommon and desirable from the Himalaya.
