Item Description

A highly unusual bi-colored tourmaline from a NEW FIND from an unknown locality in Central Tanzania. The color of the lustrous, etched and pitted pyramidal faces, with nifty pinacoidal tip, is hard to describe. They look to be an olive-green and are dramatically accented with gemmy golden-yellow area along the edges. The underlying translucent body of the well-striated trigonal crystal really lights up with rich cranberry-red color, when strongly backlit. There is a very thin, olive-green inner rind surrounding the black schorl core at the base. Fascinating and rare tourmaline from this new find. Complete all-around and pristine, except for the periphery wear at the base on one corner. 97 grams mass. Value???
