Item Description
A rare gemmy and lustrous, bi-colored tourmaline from the famous old Alto Ligonha pegmatites. The striking, 3-sided, grass-green, steep pyramidal termination is heavily etched. Below the termination is a gorgeous, gemmy, teal-blue indicolite zone followed by a narrow lilac section above the beautiful bubblegum-pink basal section, which has a green rind. So, technically this a watermelon tourmaline. One side is fluted, adding even more character. Pristine. Tourmalines of this outstanding quality were recovered during the primary mining era of the 1930s to 1970s. SELDOM on the market in this multi-color quality. Ex James Zigras Collection. 52 grams. Valued at $2000
