Item Description

A VERY RARE and aesthetic high quality tourmaline and cleavelandite small cabinet combination from the well-known Jensen Quarry. Two side-by-side bi-colored tourmaline "smokestacks" are dramatically set atop the very sculptural bladed cleavelandite matrix. Backlighting reveals that the translucent layered satin lustre prisms with matte lustre terminations are underlain by beautiful emerald-green zones above blue-gray bases. There are clean repairs to both tourmalines at the cleavelandite, which are certainly acceptable in the context of pegmatite species. A small pegmatite in this extinct complexly mineralized marble quarry contained fine tourmaline, schorl and smoky quartz specimens. These were collected in the early 1980s after the quarry closed.
