Item Description
A thick, juicy, multicolored 45 gram tourmaline crystal from a small 1984 pocket here called the "Six-Pack Pocket" after the major piece within it. The glassy, gemmy to opaque crystal shows its six layers of color with only a minimum of backlighting needed: the termination is variable purple; a narrow, pretty teal-blue zone is next; followed by a mint-green zone; soft baby-pink; a thin, irregular blue-green layer; with opaque schorl surrounded by a rind of pink and olive-green elbaite at the base. The backlit photos glow with the colors. Complete all-around. The termination has just a bit of edge wear. Contacting on one out-of-sight side, with little bruising is noted. Few of these exist to be had, the entire pocket having been hoarded by the collector at the time and only recently released at the Tucson 2011 show (sadly after his death, released by his family).
